You know we had to double it!!!!
Yes we made Lavender Earl Grey tea and yes we also used the same blend to make these smackable buttery treats called Madeleines.
This treat is very simple, doesn't take that long to make and can be made with or without our tea and common household kitchen items. This baked good was so simple I was able to get it right the first try.
Let's scan this bag to catch a vibe, and get into the baking.
The first thing we learned in culinary school was after sanitizing, before we start to cook, always get your mis en place together.
Tools Needed:
2 Mixing Bowl
Oven
Whisk
Spoon
Madeleine baking tray or Just a regular baking tray (If your just using a regular baking tray I suggest you use parchment paper.)
Ingredients:
¼ cup butter
2 large eggs
¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
⅛ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup white sugar
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon lemon zest
⅓ cup granulated sugar for decoration
2 tablespoons of lavender Earl Grey Tea (optional)
Directions:
-
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Butter 12 (3-inch) madeleine molds or baking trays; set aside.
-
Melt butter and let cool to room temperature.
-
Beat eggs, vanilla, and salt in a small mixing bowl at high speed until light. Gradually add sugar and continue beating at high speed until mixture is thick and pale and ribbons form in bowl when beaters are lifted, 5 to 10 minutes. Sift flour into the egg mixture, a third at a time, gently folding after each addition. Add lemon zest and the Lavender Grey Tea blend(optional). pour melted butter around the edge of the batter. Quickly but gently fold butter into the batter.
-
Spoon batter into molds; it will mound slightly above tops (Spoon Batter on the baking tray like cookies leaving 3-4 in. in-between each placement.).
-
Bake until cakes are golden and the tops spring back when gently pressed with your fingertip, for 14 to 17 minutes.
- Let cool then enjoy as is or dip it in your tea. (It's really given handheld poundcake.
